A host of playoff performers highlight today’s Around the Crease weekly notebook, including a pair of players from Upper Dublin (Pa.), a 2018 Loyola commit from Shenendehowa (N.Y.), a Hofstra commit from Massapequa (N.Y.) and a Loveland (Ohio) senior who made 30 saves in a region championship game.
Upper Dublin (Pennsylvania) senior, Michael Mullen, scored five goals against Springfield Township (Pennsylvania) to pass Matt Rambo, for second all-time in Pennsylvania history. Also today, an Easton (Pennsylvania) senior totals 17 points in a rivalry game.
Michael Mullen from Upper Dublin (Pa.) is less than 20 goals from Matt Rambo’s career total of 276 goals. The former La Salle College (Pa.) attackman was the Keystone State’s all-time leading scorer until Thursday night. Also today, a Cherry Hill East (N.J.) player totals 10 points and a player from Wells (Maine) scores nine.
There is a race in Pennsylvania for which senior will end up the Keystone State’s all-time leading goal scorer. Lewisburg senior Matt Fedorjaka is closest, but Upper Dublin senior Michael Mullen is coming on strong with 52 goals this season. Also today, Ponte Vedra and Lake Highland square on in the Florida Final Four and a Rockhurst Jesuit freshman kicks off his high school career.
Moorestown Friends (N.J.) goalie Joshua Murdy topped Thursday’s performances with a 32 save game. Players from Jamesville-Dewitt (N.Y.), Cheshire (Conn.), Rockhurst Jesuit (Mo.), Westlake (Calif.), Upper Dublin (Pa.) and more are also among today’s leaders.
Gowanda Central (N.Y.) lead all known teams in goals while Curtis (N.Y.) senior Tyler Robertson led all known players in points on Monday. Also today, the usual Upper Dublin (Pa.) suspects do what they do best and a New Jersey goalie from Cinnaminson improves upon his 22 save game from last week.
While LaxRecords.com was started as a place to house the history of boys’ high school lacrosse, there are a lot of performances that do not make the lists. But those performances deserved to be highlighted. The Around the Crease weekly notebook will attempt to spotlight the top players and performances.
With 12 assists on Saturday, Upper Dublin (Pa.) senior Michael Sowers became the all-time leader in assists. Sowers is one of just three known players to have surpassed 300 career assists. Also today, Farmingdale (N.Y.) head coach Bob Hartranft approaches 700 career wins and several more players are added to the Best Known Performances list.
