Wagner picked up a verbal commitment from St. Joseph-Montvale 2022 LSM Nico Kross.
Kross earned spots at the 2020 Matt Chandik One Percent Showcase, Legends Lacrosse Team Eighteen National team and the Junior Open NJ Showcase. honors last season. He also earned He was named a NJ.com Freshman of the Year after earning a starting spot as a freshman in 2019. Kross earned all-star honors at the 2019 FLG Premier and Maryland Showcase.
“I chose Wagner College because of its high academic standards, the sports administration program and the lacrosse coaches. Coach Billy (McCutcheon) and Coach Marc (Zolchonock) made a really hard decision very easy for me and they are building something special there,” Kross said. “My coach Bryan Armstrong of Riot Lacrosse felt like it would be a great fit for me socially, academically and athletically. I also live in the area so I was very familiar with the school already. The best part is my family can watch all my games as we play in the NEC. I feel this would be a great place for me to grow as a student athlete and achieve my goals I set for myself.”
Kross plays club lacrosse with NJ Riot. He was also considering St. John’s, UMBC and Binghamton.
“I have two major takeaways. The first would be spending more time developing your game and skills needed at the next level instead of just going to every event. Being in every event doesn’t matter if you don’t perform well. My coaches at Riot lacrosse and Saint Joseph Regional along with my trainer Coach Rich Robinson provided me with so much offseason work to prepare me for when we get that opportunity,” Kross said of his top takeaway from his recruiting process. “Second, listening to your coaches on what school will be the best fit, it’s not just about lacrosse. My coach, Bryan Armstrong spent a lot of time with me discussing what schools would fit me academically, socially and athletically so we make the right choice”
“I would like to thank Lee Southern, Bryan Armstrong and my NJ Riot coaches,” Kross added. “In addition I would like to thank Dan Daponte, Rich Robinson and my coaches at SJR HS. Most importantly I would like to thank my family for always supporting me.
