Griffin Shaffer, a 2022 face-off specialist from Vandegrift (Texas) has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse with Bucknell.
The face-off specialist won 90.5 percent of his faceoff opportunities last season and has 311 wins in his career. He also scored seven points on four assists and three goals in 2020.
“The academics and team culture seemed like a great fit for what I was looking for,” Shaffer said on why he chose Bucknell.
Shaffer earned a spot on the 2020 and 2019 Under Armour Underclass tournament in addition to being named 2020 Black Card All-Star. He also earned team MVP honors after a 2020 season in which he won 182-of-201 faceoffs.
“I would like to thank my coaches and family for their support through the entire process,” Shaffer said. “I am excited to be a part of the Bucknell Bison lacrosse program.”
Shaffer plays club lacrosse with Crabs Lacrosse.
“[The recruiting process was] an interesting process doing everything by Zoom and phone calls,” Shaffer said of his top takeaway from his recruiting process. “Having to visit schools on own without meeting coaches was less than ideal.”
Shaffer is the second player reported to LaxRecords to have committed to Bucknell. He join Seton Hall Prep (N.J.) goalie Jaz Zanelli.
