Vito DeBellis, a 2022 goalie from Yorktown (N.Y.) has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse with Siena.
DeBellis earned a spot on the Under Armour Underclassmen tournament and was named a standout at the Apex Local Warwick event in 2020. The goalie has 72 saves in his career.
He was also considering Army, Georgetown and Williams.
“One word, coaches. Coach Gleason and his staff have been phenomenal throughout the whole process, they made me feel that Siena is a place where I have an opportunity to compete and grow as a player and person,” DeBellis said. “Hopefully my confidence, character, and willingness to win will make me a great asset to the team.”
DeBellis plays club lacrosse with Predators.
“The recruiting process is very unique to say the least during the pandemic,” DeBellis said of his top takeaway from his recruiting process. “Stay patient and enjoy the ride, you will know the right school for you when it feels right. Try not to get caught up on the Division numbers and stay true to what you are looking for.”
