With the 2020 high school lacrosse season uncertain and many games in the West region yet to play, there are few results to highlight this week, but it only feels right to talk about at least a few of the games that were played last week.
La Costa Canyon improved to 5-1 on the season with an 11-8 win over Cathedral Catholic (Calif.). Noah Beacham led the Mavericks with eight points on five goals and three assists. Beachman’s younger brother, Ben also had a hat trick in the victory.
Torrey Pines went to 3-0 on the season with a 10-5 victory over The Woodlands (Texas). The Falcons defense has not allowed a team to score more than five goals in any game this season.
Now, on to the bad news.
Last week, LaxRecords.com reported that Washington had delayed the start of its season until at least March 20. That statement has been updated to say that games are delayed indefinitely.
But Washington is not the only one. Colorado suspended all spring sports until April 6.
The California Interscholastic Federation has a meeting set for March 17-18 where it will discuss the spring sports season.
Oregon has suspended all practices, scrimmages, and games through March 31.
At this time, it appears all states and associations have opted to exercise caution and suspend play.
