Jake Trumbull, Faith Lutheran (Nev.)
The junior totaled 10 points in the two games against California teams in two days, including 10 against defending Orange County and Southern CIF champion St. Margaret’s Episcopal. Trumbull dished out four assists and scored four goals against the Tartans.
He follows that up with two assists and a goal in a 12-9 win over Oaks Christian (Calif.) the next day.
The Crusaders improved to 5-0 on the season and have wins over teams from three different states.
Player of the Week Honor Roll
Turner Ashby, H.B. Plant (Fla.)
Ashby led the Panthers with five points in an 11-10 win over Cardinal Mooney (Fla.) last week. Ashby scored two goals and three assists as Plant outscored Mooney 6-2 in the fourth quarter to pull out the victory.
Sam Chase, Maclay (Fla.)
With three goals and three assists against Bucholz (Fla.), Sam Chase from Maclay (Fla.) became the latest player to join the 400 club. Chase (Furman) now has 405 career points with 269 career goals and 136 career assists Chase is the 7th player in state history to surpass 400 career points and joins players like Mikey Berkman (Syracuse) from West Orange and Jared Bernhardt (Maryland) from Lake Brantley. Chase is 79 points away from tying Berkman for the most points in state history and the senior already has 41 points this year. He needs 121 points this season to break the record. Last season he scored 163.
Dewey Egan, Torrey Pines (Calif.)
Egan scored six goals in Torrey Pines’ 16-4 win over West Region-ranked Loyola-Los Angeles (Calif.). Egan led the team to help the Falcons improve to 2-0 on the season.
McAllister Hobbs, Dallas Jesuit (Texas)
Hobbs scored two of the game’s most important goals in an 11-10 double-overtime win over Episcopal School of Dallas (Texas) last week. Hobbs tied the game with eight seconds left in the game to send it to overtime, then scored the game-winner in the second overtime to give the Rangers the victory. Hobbs scored three goals and one assist in the win. Hobbs scored four goals in an earlier win over St. John's (Texas).
Daniel Kelly, Calvert Hall (Md.)
Kelly kicked his senior season off with 15 points in two games as the Cardinals opened their season at the King of Spring in North Carolina. Kelly scored the 200th point of his career with his first point in the 15-9 win over St. Christopher’s (Va.) on Saturday. He scored four goals and three assists against Lake Norman (N.C.) on Friday and followed with four goals and four assists on Saturday.
Sam King, Gilman (Md.)
King totaled six points as Gilman defeated defending Florida state champion Ponte Vedra (Fla.) 11-9 on Thursday. King scored four goals and dished out two assists in the victory.
Dylan McFarland, St. Stephen’s (N.C.)
McFarland reached 300 career points with a 13-point outing against West Stokes (N.C.) on March 4. McFarland scored nine goals and four assists to bring his career point total to 300. The senior becomes the 29th reported player in state history to score at least 300 career points.
