Anthony Sand from St. Dominic has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse with VMI. He is a Class of 2020 midfielder.
The midfielder has 54 career points through two seasons.
"I want to become a fighter pilot and serve our country while playing the highest level of lacrosse," Sand said of why he chose VMI.
Sand plays club lacrosse with Team 91. He was also considering Furman, Stony Brook, and Embry Riddle.
Sand earned all-league honors as a sophomore at St. Dominic (N.Y.) on Long Island last season.
"Make sure the school you choose fits all the aspects you are looking for," Sand said of his top takeaway from his recruiting process. "Make sure it has the major that interests you and where you feel the most at home."
Sand is the first player reported to LaxRecords.com to have committed to VMI.
