2019 All-LaxRecords Honors
Tom West and Ponte Vedra (Fla.) have been a staple in Florida’s Final Four for more than a decade.
Since 2011, West has led the Sharks to the Final Four seven times. In 2019, West and Ponte Vedra got their first FHSAA lacrosse championship, and earns West LaxRecords.com’s 2019 Coach of the Year.
“This past season is a tribute to bringing his program across the finish line as Ponte Vedra’s FHSAA title is another step in the evolution of Florida lacrosse,” FloridaLacrosseNews.com’s Lee Roggenburg said. “Coach West and his staff deserve a lot of credit for building on those previous disappointments, and finally overcoming them, and he is a very worthy choice for this award, hopefully, one of many more to come for this state in the future!”
Ponte Vedra went 24-1 with its only loss to Georgia powerhouse Lambert (Ga.) on the road in North Carolina this season. They defeated Tennessee state champion Memphis University School (Tenn.), Texas champion Episcopal School of Dallas (Texas) along with Oxbridge Academy (Fla.), 2018 Florida champion Jupiter (Fla.).
In its 25 games, the defense only allowed Lambert to scored more than nine goals against them. They held 11 opponents to three goals or fewer.
