The LaxRecords Player of the Year is annually given to the player who makes a significant statistical contribution to high school lacrosse.
The On the Radar players are those who made impressive contributions during the 2018 season and were leaders on their team. Among the players included are several juniors who could become 400 Club members by seasons end, the only Maryland sophomore to earn all-state, a new leader in Colorado and players in North Carolina who are working on milestones.

Backstrom enters his third year of high school with 242 points on 135 goals and 107 assists. He averages 6.37 points per game for his career.

Baro started the 2019 season with 229 points on 127 goals and 102 assists. Through the first six games of 2019, the junior already scored 42 points.

Anthony Caporuscio from Crestwood (Pa.).

Caporuscio has been a monster through his first two seasons and starts the year with 321 points on 205 goals and 116 assists.
Matt Fermo, 2019, Caldwell (N.J.)
Fermo finished No. 1 at FaceOff Academy National Showcase. He won 61.21 percent of his opportunities last season.
Griffin Fries, 2019, Shawnee Mission East (Kan.)
The senior is coming off a 110-point season and is 49 points away from 300 for his career.
Payton Giberson, 2020, Oakdale (Md.)
Giberson transferred to Oakdale after earning MSLCA First Team All-State honors with Boys’ Latin (Md.) last year. He was the only sophomore named to the First Team.
Miles Hart, 2019, Eaglecrest (Colo.)
Hart should become Colorado’s all-time saves leader by the end of the season. He has 686 career saves and needs 38 to break the record.

Hull recently crossed 300 career points as a junior. The Michigan commit could be the newest member of the 400 Club by the end of 2019.

Malever should reach 400 career points in the next few weeks. He entered his junior year with 285 points on 142 goals and 143 assists and surpassed 300 points in his first two games.

Newton is 19 points away from 300 and 26 goals away from 200. South Elgin is one of the teams to watch in Illinois this season.

Parker entered the year with 282 points after scoring 91 as a junior. He surpassed 300 career points two games into his senior year and has a chance at 400 by the end of 2019.
Graham Schwartz, 2019, Middle Creek (N.C.)
Schwartz finished 3rd at Face Off Academy National Showcase and has won 70.68 percent in his career. He won 78.07 percent last season for a team that reached the state championship game.
