Kevin Crowley, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.)
The senior finished his career with back-to-back state championships as the Raiders defeated Benjamin (Fla.) in the semifinal, then defeated Lake Highland Prep (Fla.) in the state championship over the weekend.
Crowley who will play at Hofstra next season, led the Raiders with four goals, two assists in the FHSAA semifinal win over 14-11 over Benjamin. The senior, playing in his final high school game scored two goals and one assist in the state championship – leading the St. Thomas Aquinas to a 12-7 victory over Lake Highland Prep (Fla.) on April 29.
We’ve been working for this whole season. Earlier in my high school career we were just happy to be there. I’ve lost twice in the Final Four so that pushed me to not just be happy to just be there,” Crowley said. “We knew that were the team everyone wanted to take down. We knew everyone was going to play their best game against us. We loved that. We fed off that. We wanted to outwork everyone.”
Crowley led the Raiders with 101 points this season, scoring 67 goals and 34 assists. His performance, along with fellow senior Jimmy Harrington helped the Raiders to a 38 game in-state winning streak.
“It’s what I’ve been dreaming of since I was a little kid [winning a state championship with his dad, head coach Terry Crowley]. There’s no better way to go out and leave a legacy,” Crowley said. “He’s been coaching our senior class for the last 10 years. As a group, to go out like that, I couldn’t ask for anything more.”
