Now and Then: Nick Galasso is part of the Under Armour Lacrosse Rewind series that looks back at the high school career of the former West Islip (New York) attackman and his college career at North Carolina and Syracuse.
The 2016 Under Armour All-American senior game is coming up and I thought it would be fun to take a look back at how some of the game’s alumni have done since they played in the game with our Under Armour Lacrosse Rewind.

In High School
The West Islip product finished as Long Island’s all-time leading scorer with 500 points. Galasso holds West Islip program records for the most points in a season (136), goals in a season (72) and goals in a single game (11).
Galasso earned a spot on the Lions varsity team as an eighth grader and went on to earn Newsday Long Island Player of the Year, MSG Player of the Year and three-time team MVP honors in addition to winning four state championships.
The future North Carolina and Syracuse athlete was rated as the No. 1 prospect by Inside Lacrosse for the class of 2010.
Galasso started his college career at North Carolina and set freshman records for the most points and assists in a season. He totaled 56 points and 32 assists, which included a freshman program record five assists in a single game. As a freshman, he went on to score at least two points in 14 of 16 games. Galasso earned ACC Freshman of the Year and USILA Third Team All-American honors.
Following up on his freshman year, Galasso returned from a foot injury to play in 13 games as a sophomore. He completed his final two years of eligibility at Syracuse where he played in 30 games for the Orange.
He finished with 49 goals and 13 assists in those games and earned USILA Second Team All-American his senior year as well as ECAC Division I Men’s Lacrosse All-Star Team First-Team honors.
As a pro
Galasso went undrafted in the MLL Draft, but played in three games for the Florida Launch in 2015. He scored his first professional goals in his debut against New York.
In 2016, Galasso was listed on the active roster for the Atlanta Blaze.
